Facebook Fan Pages for Savy Fitness Professionals

Facebook Fan Page Power

Hey there, hope you are doing great.

Check out the video below, it’s pretty awesome.

The Power of Fan Pages

Facebook fan pages allow you to build your online community, get feedback, create new revenue streams, and promote your business.  (So if you are not using one, get on it!)  I was able to build a fan page of over 900 people in about 4 months, using some tricks I learned online :-)

One of the coolest things a facebook fan page can do is be customized so that first time viewers of your fan page view a special page with an opt-in form.  (An optin form is a field where they can put in their contact info, which they just might do if you offer them something cool in return!)

You can customize your fan page using something called FBML, check out how do to that here: http://www.hyperarts.com/blog/tutorial-facebook-pages-with-static-fbml-application/

Doing this has allowed me to build my email list, which can then be used to provide updates, promote special offers, or distribute valuable content.

Fan Page Example

Here is what one of my facebook fan pages looks like.

This video below previews some of the updates to the fang pages that Facebook is executing next month, which include:

  • receive email notification when someone comments on fan pages posts.
  • easily see activity from other fan pages you like.
  • comment on other pages as your page.

I am most excited about being notified when someone comments on a post.  This allows you to stop waisting time checking your pages, and quickly react to comments and encourage interactivity on your page.

The more interactive people are on your page, the more valuable it is!  A great way to encourage interactivity is to ask questions, instead of just posting stuff about your business all the time, this will get people to open up and provide you with info on how best to serve your community.

One other thing, here is a cool article on how Facebook decides who gets visibility/exposure on the site: http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2010-10-18/the-facebook-news-feed-how-it-works-the-10-biggest-secrets/

** VERY IMPORTANT, let me know what questions you have about using Facebook and fan pages to build your business.

Until next time, keep your business fit.
